Premiere: BMW X 5 plug-in hybrid goes from concept to reality

5 EDrive are in a prototype of the rolling of the concept of BMW X plug-in hybrid that manufacturer Bavarian first appeared in motor show Frankfurt this past September.At the time, BMW officials would not say if the car was intended for production, but sources had hinted that it could go on sale in the next two years with the same powertrain to be used in other models, including the 5 series.This prototype lacks alloy wheels and aerodynamic kit designed especially for the concept, but includes the door plug-in adapter in the front fender.In the form of concept, BMW had revealed that the X 5 eDrive attended an engine turbo four-cylinder 2.0 liter unspecified matched to an electric motor 94hp (95PS), supported by a battery of lithium-ion fitted under the boot floor which offer a range of pure electric drive of 30 kilometers (19 miles) at speeds of up to 120 km/h (75 mph).According to the manufacturer, the X 5 eDrive returns an estimated combined consumption of 3.8 liters per 100 kilometers (74.3 mpg UK / mpg 61.9 U.S.) and 90 g/km CO2 emissions, while completed the standard sprint to 100 km/h (62 mph) in less than 7 seconds.Once again, these are all preliminary numbers for the concept, and it will probably change when the car goes into production.Photo credits: CarPix for CarScoopS
